Update and Recent Issues on TBC and HIV Laboratory Tests: Learning from Malaysia

The Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) Program at Guna Bangsa College of Health Sciences Yogyakarta conducted an online guest lecture on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. The session featured a speaker from the University College of MAIWP International (UCMI) Malaysia. Mrs. Nurul Aini Ahmad delivered a presentation titled “Update and Recent Issues on TBC and HIV Laboratory Tests: Learning from Malaysia.” She is a lecturer in the Medical Laboratory Technology Program under the Department of Medical Science, which is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences at UCMI. Both students from UCMI and Guna Bangsa attended the lecture. Some lecturers from both sides also joined and exchanged knowledge.

This guest lecture was hosted by Guna Bangsa’s MLT program to provide students with engaging lectures from a variety of sources, as well as Malaysian perspectives. Mrs. Nurul explained the methods, procedures, standards, and best practices for TBC and HIV laboratory tests in Malaysia. The Guna Bangsa students had an opportunity to ask questions and engage in interesting conversations with the speaker. Some also shared their study experiences with other Malaysian students. They had an interactive discussion since they are both studying the same program.

By hosting this guest lecture, Guna Bangsa’s MLT program aims to implement potential applications from the presented practice to improve current practices. The program plans to expand its global relationships in the near future, not only through guest lectures but also in other forms of cooperation and implementation.
